Just in time for the remake!

Another day, another game moved to my "Complete" collection in Steam. Final Fantasy VII isn't too hard if all you care about is completing the story, but unlocking every achievement is another matter entirely. Before we begin, special thanks go to ThunderPeel2001, who made a mod to improve the game's compatibility with Xbox controllers, and mira, who wrote a guide listing the many things that can be permanently missed in a playthrough.

Behold my first ever platinum trophy!

I've earned 100% in a couple of other PlayStation games, but neither of them had platinum trophies.

This one was surprisingly easy. I had actually earned 97% during my first run through the game, but only now got around to picking up the last two trophies. All I needed to do was buy the Ancient and Traveler armor sets, which was trivial, as I had long ago completed all of the requirements to unlock them in the item shop. A few purchases later, I have completed every challenge Dad of Boy has to offer.

My next platinum trophy will likely be from Bloodborne: I've completed everything in the game (including The Old Hunters) except the Moon Presence, and am currently sitting at 92%. Unfortunately, that's going to require another complete playthrough, so don't expect to see that anytime soon.

Trilogy Tribulations

What happens when a massive corporation forgets that it's supposed to be filming a trilogy? Empirically, the answer is Star Wars: Episode IX: Rise of Skywalker.

Elder Scrolls Class Generators for Android

I am no mere blogger but also a Certified Android App Developer™! I've slapped a simple UI onto my Morrowind Class Generator and Skyrim Class Generator and released them on the Google Play store. Both apps are free and contain no advertising or in-app purchases. No special device permissions are required. iOS versions are quite unlikely as I have no Apple devices on which to test the apps and have no real desire to rewrite them in C#. These apps are for entertainment purposes only and do not constitute legal or medical advice.

The Wizard of Mods

It appears that there has been some mix-up vis-a-vis my scheduling. The archives of this very blog say that it has been a mere two years since I last set foot in Tamriel, yet everyone tells me that it's now 4E 201, when last I checked it was 3E 427. Dragon Breaks are funny things.

Be that as it may, I've started a new Skyrim (Special Edition) playthrough and decided to get serious about modding this time. I've installed a few mods before, but nothing more complicated than SkyUI. (If you're curious about modding your game but don't know where to start, the beginner's guide on /r/skyrimmods is a great resource and I highly recommend it.) After installing scores of mods and playing for 7 hours, I have yet to see a single crash: I must be doing something right!

The Mastered Sword

At long last, I have finished my "100%" run through The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. By "100%," I mean as close to 100% as I'm willing to get. I finished the game on Master Mode, completed every quest I found including the DLC, solved all 136 shrines, and filled the Hyrule Compendium. I did not collect all 900 Korok seeds, though I did find the 441 required to maximally expand Link's carrying capacity. Suffice it to say that I now know this game like the back of my hand.
